मेक्सिको के केंद्रीय बैंक ने 2024 से 2025 तक अपनी राष्ट्रीय डिजिटल मुद्रा (CBDC) के लॉन्च में देरी करने का निर्णय लिया।

नियामक के गवर्नर विक्टोरिया रोड्रिग्ज सेजा के अनुसार, राष्ट्रीय मुद्रा से मौजूदा वित्तीय और भुगतान साधनों तक पहुंच का विस्तार होने की उम्मीद है। संपत्ति के माध्यम से, नियामक स्वचालन तंत्र और प्रोग्राम योग्यता जैसी सुविधाओं को लागू करने का इरादा रखता है।

बैंकर ने कहा कि बैंक ऑफ मैक्सिको अन्य एजेंसियों के साथ नागरिकों की सुरक्षा के लिए क्रिप्टोकरेंसी को विनियमित करने की संभावना तलाश रहा है। उन्होंने कहा कि डिजिटल पेसो पारंपरिक मुद्रा की जगह नहीं लेगा, लेकिन सीबीडीसी भुगतान के मौजूदा साधनों का एक रणनीतिक विकल्प होगा।

Mexico’s CBDC launch shifted to 2025

Mexico’s central bank made a decision to delay the launch of its national digital currency (CBDC) from 2024 to 2025.

The banker stated that the Bank of Mexico along with other agencies is exploring the possibility of regulating cryptocurrencies in order to protect citizens. She added that the digital peso would not replace traditional currency, but CBDC would be a strategic alternative to the current means of payment
