Railway Budget Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is presenting the General Budget. During this period, he has made several announcements related to railways for 2024-21. First, he allocated Rs 1,10,055 crore for the Railways. Apart from this, Sitharaman also gave information about Rail Plan 2030 for Railways. The aim was to reduce the logistic costs for the industry to enable Make in India.

At the same time, he said that the scope will be increased for electric trains. He told in the budget speech that trains will run with electricity on the 46 thousand kilometer railway line. Apart from this, he said that the work of NRP (National Rail Plan) 2024 is being expedited. Giving information, he said that there is only one under construction bullet train project in the country, which will connect Mumbai to Ahmedabad.

In his big talk in railway budget (i) Trains will run on electricity on the 46 thousand kilometer railway line. (ii) New and modern coaches will be introduced on tourist railway tracks. (iii) 63 thousand crores has been allocated for the second phase of the Chennai Metro. (iv) By 2030, the National Rail Plan can be prepared, work on it fast.

Before the 2017 General Budget and Railway Budget were presented separately, but Arun Jaitley was the first Finance Minister who jointly presented the General Budget and Railway Budget. He did this on 1 February 2017. At the same time, the 92-year-old tradition came to an end by presenting the same budget without presenting the two separately. At the same time, there have been many big announcements since the merger of the Railway Budget into the General Budget. Among them, it was announced to introduce WiFi at 550 stations. Solar power plants were said to be set up along railway tracks.
